Dimensionals Patch Notes 0.7.0 - Public Playtest
Welcome back Dimensionals!
We’re so excited to bring you all back into the rift for our latest public playtest! We’ve got some big changes in store for Dimensionals. We’re really excited to show you some of the new features we’ve been working on, so excited in-fact that we managed to sneak in two new characters for you all to play with, Koa and Eve! As a disclaimer, Koa and Eve are in the very early stages of development and therefore include a few placeholder assets, you’ll notice all their Skill Cards are marked with a purple “?”, fear not this is intentional as we wanted you all to get your hands on these newest heroes ASAP.
Alongside these two new heroes comes our first sneak peek at the newest game mode in Dimensionals, the Campaign! The campaign is something we’ve been working towards in secret for the past little while as a brand new way to experience Dimensionals. For players who love a fun story, a wide cast of characters, and some extreme challenges, the campaign has something for you.
Each chapter of our campaign explores the story of Dimensionals as our team of heroes travels from, you guessed it, Dimension to Dimension to save the multiverse after a catastrophic attack from the leader of the Specter army, Ragnarath. In this update we’ll be showing off a small taste of “Chapter 1: Welcome to Atlantis” where you will be able to play the first two Episodes in our story. In these first two Episodes you play as Koa, teamed up with Shork and Eve, to survey the damage caused by Ragnarath as you dive deep into the waters of Atlantis in search of your Dimensional friends, Bo and Aquanaut.
Our campaign takes on a slightly different structure from the full roguelike approach of our Master Raid game mode, where each Episode is a predefined set of battles, shops, and dialogue that tells a unique story. Each Campaign Episode has their own set of challenge quests and a leaderboard to show off your high score for that Episode! We really hope you enjoy this new way to play Dimensionals and can’t wait to hear your feedback. You can head over to the Dimensionals Steam page and request access to the playtest!
With all that said, let's dive into the patch notes for this playtest to see everything that’s changed so far!
New Features:
- Campaign Mode Demo
Episode 1 and Episode 2 both have their own unique set of challenges that can be activated, including a Mastery challenge which requires all 5 of the Episode challenges to be active simultaneously! Good luck Dimensionals.
- Leaderboards
Players can find one leaderboard per Episode inside the Campaign Demo and a separate Master Raid leaderboard on the main screen.
- Koa and Eve as playable heroes
- New Mechanic: Break
Break is a debuff that can be applied to enemies by Koa and Eve that increases the damage taken from the next hit the debuffed enemy receives from an active Skill or a Poison hit. Each stack of Break will further amplify that damage and all stacks are removed when damage is dealt.
- Gameplay Speed Toggle
We have increased the pace of our animation triggers substantially and now offer two styles of gameplay, Normal mode and Fast mode. Normal Mode starts out slower, but the more actions that happen during the turn, the faster they ramp up. Fast most is as the name suggests, fast.
- Enemy Forecast Accuracy
Our forecast system now more accurately shows incoming damage from enemy attacks. You will now see the true value of the base damage, plus any Rage on the attacker, plus the Corruption your character has, and the damage reduction if they have Weak applied to them. All in all it’s much easier to see the exact damage you need to block each turn! Paired with this we also have a small visual update to our HP bars when it comes to Poison! The portion of the HP bar that will be lost to Poison at the start of each turn is highlighted in Green so you can clearly see how much HP will be lost on both enemies and heroes.
Updated Content:
- Skill Card Upgrade Logic
We’ve changed the way upgrading works for the Hero Skill Cards. Previously players had to merge two identical Skill Cards together to upgrade them (3* + 3* to make a 4*). We updated this mechanic slightly so now players can combine any two of the same Skill to upgrade it, however now those upgrades cost a bit of extra gold to offset the previous requirement of finding a lot of extra copies. All in all this change makes upgrading much more accessible and puts an emphasis on gold management during a run. - Mana Update
Players will now start at 3 mana at the beginning of each battle and gain +1 max mana each turn up until they reach 7 mana. - Hero Unlocking
Players will now start with the Atlantis heroes unlocked to use in the Master Raid and will obtain new heroes after defeating each boss. - Timewarps have been removed
Timewarps didn’t quite do what we wanted them to do, so we’ve disabled them for now. - Boss and enemy difficulty scaling
The Specters in the rift have gained a bit of power! Be wary Dimensionals. - Character Death and Revival no longer destroys an equip.
